Poor Lord Firestar

He’s so excited! It’s springtime! He wants to chase and peck and crow!

The only problems is, he isn’t allowed to crow because we’re in The City and he isn’t exactly welcome here. Poor Lord Firestar, he doesn’t like being put in his cage.

Another egg! This one is darker than any of the eggs we’ve gotten so far. Who layed it? The plot thickens.

Hopefully I’ll get some pictures soon! I keep forgetting!

I don’t think it was Egglantine or Lady Sandstorm. Egglantine still looks like an overgrown baby and Lady Sandstorm lays a lighter colored egg. Very puzzling!

We think she is! We’ve gotten two eggs on the roosts so far and Lady Sandstorm never lays in the roosts! Best of all, we got two eggs yesterday! I’ll try to get some pictures in the next few days!

Lord Firestar has been crowing a lot. He’s also been dancing for his wives more than usual. I think they all know that spring is finally here!

We ate the two Lady Sandstorm eggs today! That means today was the first time since August that we had real eggs! They were really good and extremely orange! Pure happiness! We thanked Lady Sandstorm, of course.

QuackStar was a funny duck. He decided to join our family on May 31, 2009. We were pretty startled when a day old duckling ran up to us! We quickly became good friends. He would follow us around the house, feet slapping on the floor, bill vacuuming lint and crumbs. He loved water!

Lady Sandstorm layed an egg!

She finally did it! That’s our first egg since August 28, 2009! That’s a long time to go without eggs. But there’s more: Chipmunk and her sisters keep sneaking into the Eglu and sitting in the nest! Maybe they’re going to lay soon. Yay!

I haven’t been able to take new pictures lately because it’s been raining! Last night the wood pellet bedding swelled up so much that it lifted the roosts! Poor chickens. Eglus are fabulous but they aren’t the best in wet weather, they’re too low to the ground.

We went to a poultry show today! Here are a few of the millions of pictures I took!

This Call duck was adorable!

A true Ameraucana (bantam)! She was very interested and alert. Lovely to see.

I just loved this Delaware bantam!
I have plenty of pictures left to post but resizing takes time and not resizing takes space so you’ll have to be patient.
